Timestamp: the evening of November 3. As I watch the returns of this election, I see Democrats winning big. That is good. Actual fascism may be rebuffed so hard the ensuing court cases are obvious theatre.
That’s good! but the prevailing party is still subject to money poisoning. While they struggle to restore the basic ethos of compassion for one’s neighbor, there still must be a central tenet about which they rally: Tax the rich.
California has a deeply-flawed measure on the ballot to tax the rich. The instinct is good, the execution is bad. Still, at least they are trying.
But taxing the rich only really works if the effort is national, if not global. Currently you can make billions and not pay taxes on it, then when you pass it to your heirs any tax liability is erased. Erased! No tax is ever collected on that wealth. This is fucking madness.
We, the small people in this nation, need to stop this bullshit. We need to destroy laws set up by the rich so their idiot offspring don’t have billions tax fucking free to destroy our country with.
I say tax the rich several times a day. It’s time to be specific. Inheritance is currently an incredibly effective way of tax avoidance, That’s the opposite of democracy! I propose that every estate transfer is subject to a logarithmic formula that says “the more you have, the less your idiot children get.” If your simpering offspring can’t get by with 900 million, they deserve to die in the gutter.
It has to be national. It has to be fierce.
