I thinks it’s mostly about fuel. I burn a little more each 30-mile day than I can replenish. It’s remarkable how much difference only going 22 miles makes.

Another variable I identified a couple of weeks ago: Pounds Per. Although my tires seemed solid when I thwacked them, I measured the pressure and found 40psi, rather than 80. Pumped them up and took several minutes off my commute.

I agree. I figure if I want to go faster, I need to get rid of the bowling ball I carry around my middle.
