Pretty safe to say that 16.000 on the Muddled Calendar is the strangest of times to be saying Elevator, Ocelot, Rutabaga (so far). Still I wish you, each and every one, a happy and prosperous new Muddled Year.

Happy birthday and happy founders day! April the Twoth is here.
Hey Jerry.
I was wondering if you could help me with something. I have a JNW file that I have lost access to, after a computer died on me.
Is there any way to convert that file into something I can open on another computer? It does not look like my old mac is going to be repairable and now I only have windows computers to play with.
Thank you so much,
Flip
Hi Flip, sorry for the slow response. I am one of the fortunate few who can work from home right now, and that’s become a 7-days-a-week endeavor right now.
Anyway, depending on how old the file is, you may be able to open it in a regular text editor and extract your content. (Apple changed the way application data was serialized a couple of times, so that’s a bit of a crapshoot.)
Alternately you can send me the file, I can open it, and send you an rtf version. I thought my email was in the “about” link in the sidebar, but when I went to look there, I realized that is WAY out of date. Like, pushing a decade out of date. Yikes.
So anyway, my email starts with vikingjs, followed by an “at” sign, then mac.com.
