I just successfully installed Gimp on my laptop. It took hours, but hey, that's what nighttime is for.For those who want to install Gimp without breaking out the CD that came with their computer to install X11 first, just do the following two steps:1) <a href="http://www.macports.org/install.php" rel="nofollow">Install MacPorts</a> (use the dmg method - piece of cake). 2) type <code>sudo port install gimp</code> into the terminal. Enter your password if asked. Wait.That's all! One of the best things about installing Gimp this way is that later you can type <code>sudo port upgrade outdated</code> and Gimp and all the other little pieces will be updated to the latest versions automagically. But I lately needed to add another row of panels to a 4 panel image (to make 6 panels in all). I could not for the life of me figure out how to do this. Not that it can't be done, but it can't be done in short order with the help that most gnu-ware dares to call help. I ended up with two figures instead of 1.
